Phone Scam Warning

A phone scam is once again making the rounds, targeting potential victims across Tulsa County.

Over the past two days, TCSO investigators have been contacted by multiple people who have received calls from scammers that identified themselves using the names of actual TCSO staff members. This time the scammer is claiming to be Sgt. Mike Moore. Often times to scammer can spoof the number on the caller ID to make it appear as though the call is coming from our number. The number being used this week is: 918-324-7706. But this phone number being used by the scammer can change within minutes.

The scammer tells the potential victim they have a warrant for their arrest for missing a court date or jury duty. They tell the victim they must immediately pay hundreds of dollars in fines in order to avoid arrest. They instruct the victim to purchase pre-paid cash cards or from local stores in order to “pay the bond” and avoid immediate arrest. They order the victim to remain on the phone with them while purchasing the cards. As soon the victim buys the cards and provides the card numbers over the phone, the money is stolen by the crook.

So far this week, one victim has reported losing $500 dollars to this scam. Another second victim came forward on Sunday to report losing $400 to the scam. This time the crook claimed to be “Lieutenant Reynolds” from TCSO.

We want to prevent additional citizens from falling victim to this scam. So TCSO is remind citizens that we never call anyone with warrants to demand payment of fines using cash cards in order avoid arrest.

If you’d like to check to see if there’s an active warrant for arrest in Tulsa County, you can do on our website using this link: tcsook.glyphreports.com

If you receive one of these calls, hang up. If you’re a victim of this scam, call us 918-596-5600 to file a report.

TCSO Employees team up with “Hearts on Duty”, the Iron Pigs Motorcycle Club NDN Territory and Tulsa County FOP #188 to help local family with expenses for toddler recovering from rare parasitic infection

Ryder Barnes and his twin sister were born on June 23rd, 2020. On Thanksgiving of 2021, this normally happy baby became extremely ill. He spiked a high fever and soon lost his vision, muscle movement, and the ability to eat or drink on his own.

After a week in a Tulsa Hospital with no diagnosis, Ryder was sent to Texas Children Hospital in Houston where he was diagnosed with Baylisascaris; a rare parasitic infection cause by a roundworm in raccoons. Ryder is 1 of 26 known cases worldwide.

This infection has caused brain atrophy, leading to brain damage. In January, Ryder was moved to a rehabilitation center in Bethany, Oklahoma, where he is currently re-learning how to eat, drink, crawl, walk and stand.

The 2022 Iron Pigs Nation & Hearts on Duty Poker Run is dedicated to helping Ryder’s family with his medical expenses.

Homicide Arrest

Last night TCSO investigators arrested 41 year old Michael Christopher Jimenez of Glenpool for the murder of his wife, 40 year old Erica Christine Jimenez.

On Monday afternoon, Deputies responded to a 911 call in 4200 block of East 56th Street North. The caller stated a woman had suffered a diving injury at Bird Creek and was unconscious.

When Deputies arrived, they found Michael Jimenez on the bank of the creek with his wife. She had obvious signs of trauma to her body. She died from her injuries after being transported to a local hospital.

Over the course of the investigation, Detectives developed evidence that indicated Erica Jimenez had been severely beaten at another location prior to being taken to Bird Creek.

Late TCSO Sgt. John Harris to be honored at the 6th Annual Hero’s and Hot Rods Car Show

For years, TCSO has been proud to participate in the “Hero’s and Hot Rods” car show, by sending patrol vehicles to display, as well as Deputies to from our Community policing Unit to talk with event goers.

But this year’s event is particularly special to us, as the organizers have chosen to honor late TCSO Sergeant John Harris during this year’s event. Sergeant Harris passed away on August 19th, 2021 as a result of being exposed to COVID 19 while on duty. Sheriff Vic Regalado is honored to serve as this year’s guest speaker. The event will take place on June 18, 2022 from 8:00am – 2:00pm at Fellowship Bible Church located at 5434 E. 91st street in Tulsa.
